Learning to see…
Last year, a picture that my dad took when he visited me was a real eye-opener. I have since realized (from attending several workshops) that every one looking at the exact same scene somehow sees it differently.
There is an excellent article by Alian Briot, that talks about this (See section B – Developing a personal style). I have recently begun giving photography lessons to my 5 year old by giving hi my trust old Yashica T4 loaded with some Ilford XP2 film. Read more
End of the days…
If you have been following the news from Dirck Halstead’s predictions and the more recent RED’s announcement at NAB (check here for a sample image grab from their video camera).
It is sad, but true – the image quality is incredible – much better than from any DSLR that i have seen. Does this trigger the end of still cameras? possibly not – but it may trigger a new revolution in journalistic use of DSLRs. Sports and News may now switch to using these cameras…talk about 60 fps at this quality!
