Well for starers, Up in the title you see “Lightroom” only because i see that it is the most popular topic on my blog. I also think, that people often stop by my site after googling the text and get linked to the site.
Being a dummy that i am – I have been sharing my ACR settings with the public. Let me first correct it – Those that are using my ACR settings – It is quite useless! Every camera is different and has a different color rendition. Using ACR is also dependent on various other factors such as ISO and white balance. The settings that i get from ACR calibration is very different from what someone else may get if they use the same ISO, White balance and other environmental factors.
So, how did i get those numbers in the first place? First off – i use a Xrite color chart, shoot it in controlled settings (daylight balanced lights), shoot the target for every ISO that i frequently shoot with (200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400) and run the fors ACR calibration script for each ISO setting (it takes about 45minutes to an hour for each script). Then i open the same image in Lightroom, use the ACR settings i got from the script and apply them.
So, go ahead and use them – only as a starting point. Your camera will most definitely need a tweak from my settings.
