Introducing yourself

When you attend small group focused workshops, this is often the first thing everyone starts off with. Introducing yourself to the group.  I am often very surprised on how people open up and speak about their personal lives in this brief duration of their “lime light”.

Skin tones…

Lightroom (LR) plays a significant part of my work flow. A few years ago, I had tried the approach of using Nikon’s Capture for the process of RAW conversion, however since LR 2 came out, I have given up on using Capture. I choose LR for its DAM capabilities and the batch processing capabilities (and

A new camera!

I like my D300. I love the extra reach with the 1.5x crop — especially when shooting macros and telephoto. The 1.5x is like having a Tele-converter on all the time! However, over time, i have realized that i don’t shoot much macros or sports (or wildlife for that matter). I most shoot “people” &

The refresh cycle for digital cameras these days typically run for about 2 years. Naturally, there is this constant urge to keep upgrading equipment to keep current with the trends. However, that is not the case all the time (I still shoot Film alongside of Digital). Based on my personal experience (looking back and studying

Computer Selection choices…

Selecting a computer is now a “required choice” that a modern photographer makes. This “selection” is an ongoing process and needs to be refreshed every few years — just like the camera. I hope this article benefit someone else.  In this article, i have documented my own selection process, from my most recent upgrade.  Use

3rd party inks…

There are a lot of “researchers” on the Internet. There are not many people how have really tried them and have had issues with them, and are recommending something based on experience — it is mostly based on hearsay or “heard in the forums”.… Using 3rd party inks is one such topic. There is plenty

On Workshops…

Workshops are very critical and important and improve skills, creativity, networking with like minded peers & most importantly — an opportunity learn hands-on from a master of the craft. Preferably, from someone whose work you admire. Back in the days, a teacher was the “master” of his skills, and had the “final” word on the
